Our firm used ShareFile for years, originally under Citrix. The product itself worked for secure file sharing, but the handling of our account after the transition to Progress caused us to lose confidence in continuing the relationship. Being cut off from business-critical file-sharing materials before the correct billing contact had a meaningful opportunity to address the issue created unnecessary operational disruption. We paid to restore access, but based on this experience, we do not intend to renew. Businesses relying on ShareFile should pay very close attention to auto-renewal deadlines, billing contacts, and notice requirements, because once the renewal date passes, the company may insist on the full annual amount even if there were transition-related communication problems.
Pros: ShareFile has been useful for secure file sharing, especially when working with outside firms and sharing client-related folders. The platform itself served our needs for years and was helpful for organizing and exchanging business-critical documents.
Cons: The renewal and billing process after the Citrix-to-Progress transition was extremely disappointing. Billing and renewal communications were routed in a way that the appropriate person responsible for payment did not see them, and our firm did not receive or review the invoice until shortly before our service was cut off. Rather than working with us on a reasonable transition or prorated resolution, Progress ShareFile insisted on payment of the full annual renewal to restore access. The company’s position appeared to be that the auto-renewal terms controlled, regardless of the communication issues during the transition. That may be their policy, but it was not a customer-focused way to handle a long-standing business account.

Excellent Every company needs to have cloud storage, Sharefile allows for this in an easy to use package. I like the 3rd party separation from the big players and the extra features that you would not get from a Microsoft or Amazon.
Pros: Easy to use and Fair pricing!!! We have been using this product for over 10 years successfully!!! Keep up the good work...
Cons: Desktop app will glitch if overloaded To fix the PC would need to be rebooted, as an alternate way to access your files, the browser will always work.

It is reliable for sending files (secured) and receiving large or confidential files. It got more room for improvement.
Pros: It was not pricey and the customer service is excellent and can be linked with our Microsoft Outlook which makes very handy, also knowing it makes secure file sharing. Requesting a signature is easy to use.
Cons: Users (clients) had hard time to use especially to non-techy users. And the document upload sometimes feel a bit slow, especially when handling large files.

Very Nice we are using this platform as a mediator with our client. we are using 20 Administrator plan and very much satisfied. 20 TB storage is good enough for small organisation and there is an option available to increase the storage space it will more beneficial in case if we require. Overall its good.
Pros: Very nice app in this era for cloud storage in average cost. Folder Management is good. We can create and share with user's ID. Its also allowing us to share with links and with proper validity. In simple words its good to go.
Cons: Responding very slow Like login and surfing in folders. As our experience with other cloud storage Sharefile take much time to for login authentication. Support team should rectify the speed and it may good to use in market if slowness remove.

It is good experience , I would recommend using it specially the cloud storage which facilitates the communication
Pros: It is easy to use , the support is very responsive and helpful Value for money and it has large storages
Cons: It has bugs that sometimes it is very slow and sometimes users are not able to login The storage could be faster

If you have ever used dropbox, gdrive or onedrive you will find using sharefile easy to use. Major difference is that this product is built with multiple users and clients in mind from day one, while other mentioned products are meant to be single user products which have option of sharing documents under particular conditions. If we put security and audit ability aside (which are important to my use case), second feature really worth mentioning is practicaly unlimited ability to create clients who can access your shared resources. In my opinion (and research), there is nothing quite like it and ShareFile is great fit for my use case (and priced competitvely too).
Pros: I am a long time user and I choose ShareFile because of security options and level of control I have over my uploads. Particulary, I have log file of who accessed what. I am located in EU and my files containt personal information it was really important to be sure that my data is kept within EU. I also like options to customized my sharefile experience which helps my client orient themselves more easily. At one point we also used ability of sharefile to create custom web forms for uploading, and that was a huge time and resource saver too.
Cons: In almost ten years of using ShareFile I never had a single issue. There were few points in time when I had to warn my users to update their software, but web access was always there.

Pros: ShareFile is a user-friendly and reliable solution that excels in enterprise environments. Its intuitive interface makes it easy for users of all levels to navigate and manage files efficiently. The platform integrates seamlessly with existing enterprise systems, enhancing productivity without disrupting workflows also offering robust security features.
Cons: While ShareFile is generally reliable, we’ve encountered occasional issues - primarily around file permissions and access controls. These hiccups have sometimes disrupted workflows, especially when managing shared folders across teams. However, their support team has consistently been responsive and knowledgeable, helping us resolve problems quickly and effectively.

We have been using ShareFile for several years now to request data from customers migrating to our web applications. We especially like the simplicity for end users and the way data retention/link expiration works. I do think the product is a little expensive but I haven't found anything that works as well.
Pros: The simplicity for end users makes ShareFile a great choice for our business case as we have none technical staff receiving requests for data uploads.
Cons: The authentication process when logging in was a little flaky, we sometimes had to log in twice. This looks to have been updated recently.
Mark C. · Technical Director · Computer Software · September 16, 2025
Used to be very positive, now I have nothing much positive to say about it, other than their customer service. The failed syncs are inexcusable and make the product virtually unusable. We are now looking into alternatives and have not moved to new providers just out of inertia rather than anything else.
Pros: I used to like the fairly seamless integration and unlimited storage when I signed up. It could sync across users and devices very well an sharing with clients was also easy and auditable in terms of access control and visibility. A lot of those pros. are no longer there or have been eroded. Customer support are perhaps the only saving grace, when you eventually get through to them. They have tended to take ownership of issues and followed up appropriately every time. The fact they actually phone you to explain or check exactly what the problem may be is unusual and hugely positive. In that, they seem to care about their customers. In the functionality of the product, much less so.
Cons: $7e

My experience with ShareFile is a very positive one. I found it easy to upload, share, and work remotely. I find it so much easier to navigate than Dropbox.
Pros: I never received any formal training on ShareFile, I was just invited on by an employer, and found it fairly simple to navigate. I like having the ability to securely share and edit so many documents, while keeping them all in one place.
Cons: Once in a while, I find the uploads rather slow, but that's just once in a while, not too frequently.

Very good software. Allows us to manage all of the documents we want in the way we want. Very pleased.
Pros: Safety. Security. Capabilities for networking. Organization. Customizations. Keeps everything exactly where I want it.
Cons: I haven't experienced anything that I would report as a negative. As with anything, there's always a learning curve.

Pros: Product used to be great, new management from progress has made the product unusable due to horrendous support.
Cons: Progress acquisition has rendered support useless, too many people in the mix, nobody has answers, support tickets remain open for weeks at a time and no follow up. Duplicate invoices being sent, inability to do something as simple as upgrade an account due to backend bugs that nobody seems to care about.

I've had a positive experience using Sharefile over the past year. I like how simple it is to send out documents for signature and the encryption & security options are quite useful. I've also used it to store files and create folders, so it is also a great website for database management.
Pros: Versatility. Good platform for creating and sharing folders with other users. Great for database management for documents and easy to send out documents for signature. Decent security features as well for sensitive documents.
Cons: It can be slow and unresponsive at times.

The Progress Sharefile (Previous Citrux Sharefile), is unreliable in a way that it has system-wide slowdowns. Probably due to the limited resources allocated. Not for file share, but if you are using their projects. It works well in the off-season. However, right before the deadline, you keep on getting those errors and endlessly press Ctrl 5. It cripples the whole tax preparation process when you cannot retrieve data from the document requests or information requests. When you reach out to the support, they never understand the issue. In short, not a reliable product at all especially for a tax prep firm. Imagine right before the deadline struggling to get the data. The dreadful calls to clients to send the data through alternate means. Very disappointing.
Pros: The new features they introduce. (provided they work)
Cons: System availability during peak time. No document requests, information requests or projects open during peak of the tax season.

The product itself offers a mature, secure cloud solution for document management. Recent customer service experience [Feb 2025] has been abysmal! I tried changing the terms of my renewal and literally spent a day trying to track down someone, anyone, to assist. By the time someone responded, the product had renewed with no option to change. Suffice to say we are moving away from it. Get your act together, CISCO/Citrix, or whoever currently owns/manages customer service and support.
Pros: ShareFile security [256-bit AES] is top-notch and was the selling point for me to switch my practice over to it. Integration with both Mac OS and Windows made it a practical solution.
Cons: - it does not integrate with virtual machines - there is a lag while sending out email in Outlook; not really sure what the connection is between ShareFile and Outlook - Customer service leaves a TON to be desired

ShareFile is fast, secure, and reliable. Get your money because, after using ShareFile, you'll click the upgrade button fast.
Pros: Whether it's a team project or client files, ShareFile has you covered. First, i can't express enough how awesome ShareFile is in my everyday life, working with files and collaboration. The easy integration with Microsoft Office 365 is a massive game-changer where i can easily share, edit, and save documents.
Cons: The portal could use more options when customizing the look and feel.

OVERALL MY EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD UNTIL I WENT TO CANCEL (BEFORE MY ANNUAL SERVICE WAS OVER) I CANCELLED VIA EMAIL SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED. THEN THEY ISSUED AN INVOICE FOR THE COMING YEAR AND I INFORMED THEM AGAIN I HAD CANCELLED. 3 MONTHS LATER I RECEIVE A THREATENING EMAIL STATING THAT I HAD TO PAY THE INVOICE AS THEY HAD ISSUED IT! INTERESTING AS THEY HAD ALREADY CLOSED MY ACCOUNT MONTHS AGO.
Pros: FINE AS A PROGRAM, A FEW GLITCHES WITH ACCESSING.
Cons: GLITCHES WHICH LEFT THE CLIENTS UNABLE TO OPEN FILES. COMMUNICATION ISSUES.

Pros: It is amazing how this tool simplifies the task of sending large files viia email
Cons: What I like the least is setting up permission configuration when I send files
Robert B. · Full Stack Developer · Information Technology and Services · November 21, 2024
Positive, lightweight program that is secure and intuitive
Pros: Allows secure secure transfer of documents with clients
Cons: Can be confusing for some clients to authenticaate

ShareFile is irreplaceable for us. It simplifies file sharing while ensuring security.
Pros: ShareFile is incredibly user-friendly and straightforward to implement. Its customizable security options ensure that sensitive information is well-protected, giving us peace of mind. I also love that I get alerts when files are viewed or downloaded, allowing for better tracking and management of shared documents. One of the standout features is that users don’t need to log in to view files, which simplifies the process for recipients and enhances overall accessibility.
Cons: I really have no negatives to mention—it's just an incredibly useful tool! It has streamlined our processes and made collaboration so much easier. I can’t imagine working without it!

A very good tool for file sharing that is used in the AEC industry.
Pros: Ease of use and ability to drag and drop files effectively.
Cons: Not as advanced as other file sharing tools like Dropbox.
Eddie W. · Senior Project Manager · Construction · November 1, 2024
Excellent. My clients like it for its ease of use and privacy of their files.
Pros: The software is super easy to use. It uploads files very fast and I love the way it integrates into Outlook.
Cons: It is a bit expensive for a sole practitioner who is required to have a minimum of three users (price is per-user).
david f. · Attorney · Law Practice · October 22, 2024
very good, easy to learn and well priced
Pros: safe secure and easy to sue, very good product
Cons: not much - it can be slightly difficult to add people form other organizations

Sharefile is a great tool to utilize to share important documents with clients and they can download them securely.
Pros: What I like most about sharefile is that it can be an outlook plugin and you can attach things securely through emails and also that you can share access with your coworker.
Cons: Sometimes it could be slow but no real issues.
