Slack is where work happens for millions of people everyday. Slack transforms how work happens by bringing AI and automation to where people are already collaborating. Go from chatting with your teams to chatting with apps and data. Break down siloed data through Slack's searchable channel architecture, allowing your teams and AI to access your organization's knowledge. Teams work together in context when CRM data, project management, and people all come together to solve problems and make decisions. Teams can talk to each other and their AI agent in conversational language, allowing them to access each other and information seamlessly. Slack AI recaps channels and summarizes threads so that employees can jump into discussion quickly, whether they are new to a project or catching up after being away. Enterprise applications can easily be integrated and shared in channel and direct message, giving a snapshot of context and the opportunity to collaborate on the spot.

Slack is a great free way to communicate with your team members on your computer. I do believe they have a paid version that allows you to go back and look at messages from an unlimited time frame. The free version does limit how far back you can look on conversations.
Pros: Slack is an awesome app if you are looking for a way to quickly message with your internal team. This is a great alternative to keep on your computers so you do not have team members texting on their phone.
Cons: I am not sure if it is just the way I have it set up but I do not receive notifications if someone messages me and the app is not open.

We've used Slack for nearly two years across a hybrid team, and it's become the backbone of how we communicate. Customer support is decent — mostly self-serve through their help center, which is thorough. The value for money is reasonable at the Pro level, though I do think the free tier cutbacks pushed smaller teams into paying sooner than felt fair. Overall, it's the right tool for the job — just set your notification boundaries early and enforce some channel etiquette as a team, and it's hard to beat.
Pros: Slack genuinely replaced email for our day-to-day internal communication and I can't imagine going back. The channel structure keeps conversations organized by project, team, or topic, and being able to thread replies means a busy channel doesn't turn into chaos. The search is surprisingly powerful — I've pulled up messages and files from two years ago in seconds. Integrations are a massive plus; we've connected it with Google Drive, Zoom, and a few project tools, so a lot of our workflow just lives inside Slack now. Huddles (the quick audio call feature) are underrated — it's way faster than scheduling a meeting for a five-minute question. Ease of use is genuinely one of its strongest points; new team members are comfortable within a day.

Cons: Notifications can become overwhelming fast if you don't take time to configure them properly, and most people don't — which leads to either constant pinging or people muting everything and missing important messages. The free plan is quite restrictive now with the 90-day message history limit, which makes it hard for smaller teams to commit without paying. The pricing per seat adds up quickly for growing teams. Occasionally there are minor bugs — slow load times or messages showing as unread when they aren't — nothing critical, but noticeable. It can also quietly become a productivity killer if your team culture leans into being always-on.

Slack has been a long-used chat system that I have used across multiple workplaces. Having used earlier chat software, or moving to workplaces where another option was used, I've made sure the teams I've joined implement it ASAP.
Pros: Slack is our primary communication tool amongst our team as we're a fully remote business, operating in different cities around the country. It's great for 1:1 messaging, but also channel-based chats, and group messaging - very quick, easy to use, and reliable.
Cons: It's probably more a broader issue with how businesses operate in the modern day, but having slack means people will message you a lot more than they would usually have picked up the phone to call you or walk over (if in an office) because it's so easy.

Loved using it remotely! I would recommend this software to any start up. I believe it could be used effectively in any industry.
Pros: That I went to one place to communicate with all coworkers. I like that there were channel that made sense to the departments.
Cons: The feeds were confusing when they were closed or why they would always remain open. I didn't like that it felt hard to find old convos.

My overall experience with Slack has been positive, as it made day-to-day communication quicker and easier across teams.
Pros: made collaboration smoother by bringing messages, updates, files, and quick discussions into one place
Cons: it can sometimes feel overwhelming , easy to miss important updates if conversations move quickly or are spread across different threads
Anonymous User · Test Manager · Publishing · May 14, 2026
Generally great - it allows for fully remote work across a diverse team, and its intergration with things like Jira and Hubspot are actually genuinely useful. Even just how links are expanded into previews is a solid win for the app.
Pros: Honestly the custom emojis. Being able to create custom emojis, especially as a remote staff member, allows for consistent engagement in the culture of our workplace.
Cons: This is more about managing slack; essentially its very easy to end up in too many channels - but then you dont want to miss the updates. I dont think this is handled very well - you are either in the them all, or you miss out. A tidier sidebar would be appreciated

Slack is a superb communication platform. It's easy, organized, fun, and effective. Of the many communication tools out there, like Discord and Telegram, Slack stands out with more capability and yet more simplicity.
Pros: What I most like about Slack are the video call feature (Huddle) and screen-recording feature (which also allows you to record audio and camera with it).
Cons: I can't think of anything significant that I don't like about Slack as a product. If anything, being owned by a smaller company rather than Salesforce would be preferred. And maybe having a different product name than "Slack" since it helps your teams get more done!

Very positive! My company has used Slack for many years, and really relied on it when most of us went virtual in 2020. We are still a hybrid company and it's probably my most-used work software.
Pros: Very easy to chat with anyone! I like how they organize conversations. Notifications are easy to receive on laptop and phone. I can easily share files and also search for old files. I enjoy the ability to create and name channels. Lots of helpful features, including polls and schedule sending. I also enjoy the weekly trivia. Definitely worth the money we spend.
Cons: Honestly not much - I didn't find the card-sending features to be very helpful. I also find that some of the features, where you have to use a "/" to make them work, to be a bit confusing. Adding a bot for various features can also be time-consuming or confusing. I don't find the video calling to be helpful.

Very good. Best internal communications tool I have ever used. Would only want to use Slack moving forward.
Pros: I love how easy it is to communicate to all employees internally quickly. It’s easy to create groups and channels.
Cons: Not being able to press the enter button to create a new line. I always send messages before I mean to for this reason.

Marco G. · Journaliste · Online Media · May 8, 2026
Pros: Its design: it's very attractive, user-friendly and sleek. I love the way it's organized per chats/tags, the fact that you can have calls on it as well and the integration with multiple platforms such as Google Drive and more.
Cons: Not all of its features are easy to understand. It's actually quite hard to figure out how it works at first because it's layered, but once you get the hang of it you realize it's very user friendly
Stefania D. · Student · Education Management · May 7, 2026
Pros: The mentions of staff in the chat were easy to use and knowing they would be notified was good. Having everyone in one spot is helpful
Cons: It was very hard to navigate and log into the correct group that I needed to. I had to log in multiple times to get into the group and kept being removed from it for reasons unknown

Every aspect of helping with communication amongst our teams is amazing. It is helpful when you need to get on a quick call with a team member to chat versus talking in a thread. The Huddle feature allows for a quick face to face and it’s great!
Pros: Slacks ease of use is amazing and I love that we can creat channels for certain projects and include the employees that are involved for seamless communication.
Cons: I wish there was an easier way to find previous comments or mentions in a chat or thread. Being able to save certain conversations for yourself in a separate folder or location that is just for your reference would be helpful.

My overall experience with Slack has been very positive. As a solo product consultant working across multiple client organizations, I’ve found it to be an essential tool for staying organized, responsive, and connected without getting buried in email. It has helped me manage conversations by client and project, collaborate more efficiently, and maintain visibility across several workstreams at once. While notification volume and search can be frustrating at times, the overall value has far outweighed those drawbacks, especially because the platform helps me move faster and reduce administrative overhead.
Pros: What I liked most about Slack was how effectively it helped me manage communication across multiple client organizations without losing context. As a solo product consultant, I rely on the ability to move quickly between workspaces while keeping conversations, decisions, and deliverables organized by client and project. Slack’s channel structure makes that easy, and features like Huddles help me align with clients quickly without the overhead of scheduling formal meetings. I also found the AI and automation capabilities especially valuable for summarizing long threads and reducing repetitive administrative work, which helps me stay focused on higher-value strategic work.
Cons: What I liked least about Slack was how difficult it can be to manage at scale across multiple active workspaces. As a solo consultant, notification volume can become overwhelming, and it takes constant tuning to stay responsive without disrupting focused work. I also found that search, while useful, does not always make it easy to quickly surface specific historical context, files, or decisions across busy channels and threads when I need something fast.

My experience with Slack has been excellent. It allows me to stay organized and keep my teams on the same page with communications and news.
Pros: Easy to use, has all the features you could need, and it truly makes communication with colleagues and employees easy.
Cons: I have yet to find anything that I don't like about slack! All of it's features are helpful and the app is user-friendly.
Anonymous User · General Manager · Sports · May 5, 2026
Pros: Allows for smooth connection to vendors outside the company Easy to use Ability to open a customer support ticket via emoji is great feature
Cons: The huddles are not as intuetive as a call on other app, for exmp.: Microsoft Teams Shared links sometimes sent broken or incomplete
Ilya P. · SRE · Computer & Network Security · May 4, 2026
Pros: Intuitive and easy-to-use interface that drives quick adoption across teams Real-time communication improves speed of decision-making and issue resolution Strong channel organization keeps conversations structured and transparent Seamless integrations (e.g., project tools, file sharing) centralize workflows Search functionality makes it easy to retrieve past conversations and data
Cons: High message volume can create noise and reduce signal on critical items Easy to lose accountability without clear ownership in threads Notification overload can impact focus and productivity Important updates can get buried in fast-moving channels Requires disciplined channel governance to be effective at scale

Overall, my experience with Slack has been very positive. It provides a clean and user-friendly that makes team communication efficien. The use of channels helps separate discussions by projects or topics, reducing confusion and making it easy to find information. Real-time messaging, quick file sharing, and integrations with other tools enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
Pros: Slack has been my go to use application. In our company we use slack across the office for our conversation. the best thing about slack is we can differentiated the starred channel and private important conversation can be pinged so it help in tracebility. the file share is way easy even for larger file size. its the one of most easy and value for money.
Cons: the only issue I face it get frequently logged out on it own and take time to log in. Also there are instances when call hung up during huddle.

Using Slack is a comfort with regard to the many features that have apparently been accepted as industry standard.
Pros: It is an industry standard, apparently, as many other companies use it as have those in which I have worked.
Cons: It seems that it doesn't tell me on my phone when someone has sent me a DM, like the previous application that I used did.
Douglas K. N. · President · Automotive · May 3, 2026
Easy and helpful when working in a remote team, slack brings the community element into remote working
Pros: The flexibility within slack has always been amazing but the new AI and automations make slack indispensable.
Cons: There could be more areas that are default set to the whole company instead of needing to be added to specific channels
Leanne M. · Marketing Field Project Manager · Construction · May 1, 2026
The interface is clean, the search function actually works well (which is rare for chat apps), and it keeps everything centralized. I wish the native automations had more depth, but as a core messaging platform, nothing else really comes close to how intuitive it is.
Pros: Great tool for everyday work communication. The new AI features are actually super useful, especially for summarizing massive, chaotic threads when you come back from a day of meetings. But my absolute favorite part is the Workflow Builder. It makes setting up standardized IT request forms, automated onboarding messages, or daily standups incredibly easy without needing to involve developers. The integrations with almost every other tool we use are just a massive time-saver
Cons: Even though the Workflow Builder is great for basic tasks, it hits a wall pretty fast when you need real automation. The lack of proper conditional logic (if/then branching) is frustrating. If you want to build complex, multi-step flows with different outcomes based on user input, the native builder just can't handle it. You still end up having to connect external tools like n8n or Zapier to do the heavy lifting

Pros: What i liked the most about slack is i can chat with my classmates and teachers in one place with out a hassle
Cons: What i didnt like about slack is that i was a lil confusing at first but then i figured it out how too work through the app
Megan M. · Owner · Commercial Real Estate · May 1, 2026
Overall, my experience has been very positive for team communication and collaboration. Slack makes it easy to keep conversations organized through channels, direct messages, and shared files, all in one place.
Pros: Its organized communication through channels—it keeps conversations, files, and updates in one place, making team collaboration clear and efficient.
Cons: The biggest downside is the notification overload—it can get overwhelming with constant messages. Also, the free version has message history limits, which can make it harder to find older conversations.
Melinda W. · Owner · Arts and Crafts · April 30, 2026
Many years in, and my team still uses Slack to communicate because it's efficient! I use it daily and will continue to do so.
Pros: Slack makes it easy to communicate with colleagues in a remote work setting with the ability to create group chats, different channels, and share files.
Cons: Depending on the version you pay for, Slack does run out of storage and will delete old messages. However, it notifies you first. I also find I sometimes have trouble with the phone app.
